Cold Calling

I use a few scripts when calling, but one thing I started to do differently that is working is leaving my info on their answering machines, it is like leaving a "voice" business card...

I say ...my name is (NAME) and I am a District Co-ordinator for Avon Products (they don't know what Coordinator means, but it makes it sound very official...like a Full Time Recruiter...). We are looking for women in the area who might be interested in buying Avon or earning extra money by selling Avon. (I pause and see if they respond right away...the space of a breath).

If there is no answer I ask "Do you currently have an Avon Representative?"...

if yes, I ask "Are you satisfied with her service? Or have you ever been approached by her to start selling Avon yourself?"...

I would never steal a customer or try to recruit someones customer...I tell the recruit to "let the Representative know if you are in need of anything" and tell them to have a great day!

If they answer that they don't have a Rep. I ask "Well, would you be interested in receiving brochures from a neighborhood representative. Or would you be more interested in learning how you can become a Rep. yourself?"...I wait to find out the customers response, if they want to be a customer, I tell them I will drop them a book in the next day or two along with a few samples, and if they want to hear about selling I get all excited and start giving them some basic info about how it will sell itself if they just get the brochures out there and to let everyone they know know they sell Avon...it goes from there...

Listen for key phrases and words though like....

" I already work full time"...tell her that that is wonderful, she can sell at her workplace!

" I don't have the money to start"...tell her she can pay the 20.00 kit fee to you with the commission of her first order!

" I am an at home mom and have my hands full with my kids"...I tell her "so am I!!!", and that is how I do so well, all the mom's I am in contact with, and I have customers all over because of the activities my kids are involved in and at thier schools!

" I don't know alot of people I could sell to"...I tell them I was new to the neighborhood when I started and didn't know a soul, all my family is out of state, and still managed to sell 24,000 my first year, because I started to meet all these people..I started with neighbors and word of mouth and leaving books on windshields of cars in the neighborhood grew my business!I try a few rebuttals, and if I still don't peak interest, I cut the conversation and try the next number on my list...
